Kava Barista

How to prepare

Ready in seconds

The whole point of truly instant kava: no straining, no grit, no fuss. Here’s the official way to make each one.

Pure Instant

~20 servings per 50 g bag.

Use

1 teaspoon (~2.5 g)

Water

8 oz water

Temperature

Room temperature

Steps

  1. 1Add 1 teaspoon of Pure Instant kava to your cup or shell.
  2. 2Pour in 8 oz of room-temperature water.
  3. 3Whisk briefly with a matcha whisk until fully dissolved.
  4. 4It dissolves completely — no straining, no grit. Sip and settle in.

Tips

  • A matcha whisk gives the smoothest cup, but a spoon works too.
  • No emulsifiers needed — it's a true extract, not micronized root.
  • Onset takes ~15–20 minutes; wait before pouring another.

Mocha Blend

~12 servings per bag.

Use

3 heaping Tbsp (up to 4 for stronger)

Water

8 oz water

Temperature

Hot, ~140°F (not boiling)

Steps

  1. 1Heat 8 oz of water to about 140°F — hot, but not boiling.
  2. 2Stir in 3 heaping tablespoons of Mocha blend.
  3. 3Whisk until smooth and creamy.
  4. 4Use up to 4 Tbsp for a stronger, richer cup.

Tips

  • 140°F is the sweet spot — hotter can scorch the cream and cocoa.
  • Make it a latte: top with steamed milk (see Recipes).
  • Contains milk; may contain soy, tree nuts, egg, and wheat.

Raw Kava (traditional)

100 g pouch.

Use

~30 g per liter

Water

Warm water + 100-micron strainer bag

Temperature

Warm

Steps

  1. 1Add ~30 g of root powder to a 100-micron strainer bag in warm water.
  2. 2Massage and knead the bag for several minutes.
  3. 3Strain thoroughly, then serve.
  4. 4Expect traditional earthiness — this is whole-root kava.

Tips

  • Traditional prep — more effort, the classic experience.
  • Strain well to keep it smooth.
